Marco Silva sacked by Watford as club blame ‘unwarranted approach’ from Everton as catalyst for decision.

Watford have sacked Marco Silva after only eight months in charge, with the club blaming Everton’s ‘unwarranted approach’ for the dip in form.

The Hornets have lost eight of their last 11 games under Silva and are in 10th position, three points above the relegation zone.

But the club believe Everton’s pursuit of Silva has caused a deterioration in results.

The club statement read: “This has been a difficult decision and one not taken lightly. The club is convinced the appointment of Silva was the right one and had it not been for the unwarranted approach by a Premier League rival for his services we would have continued to prosper under his leadership.
